Turkey has achieved a remarkable milestone in its natural gas infrastructure, with the country's transmission and distribution network now exceeding 257,000 kilometers—equivalent to circling the globe six and a half times. This transformation over the past 24 years has played a critical role in enhancing energy accessibility across the nation.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar highlighted that natural gas, which was once available in only five provinces in 2002, is now being utilized in all 81 provinces and 995 settlements. He expressed optimism about expanding this reach, stating, "By the end of this year, the number of settlements with access to natural gas will increase to 1,000. We will continue to ensure the safe and uninterrupted delivery of natural gas across the country, supported by our robust entry capacity and storage infrastructure."
The ambitious plans outlined by Minister Bayraktar underscore Turkey's commitment to enhancing its energy landscape, making natural gas more accessible while ensuring reliable service. As part of this initiative, the government aims to further develop the infrastructure to meet the growing energy demands of its population.
As Turkey continues to invest in its energy sector, the focus remains not only on expanding the network but also on ensuring sustainability and efficiency in gas distribution. With these efforts, Turkey is positioning itself as a key player in the energy market, enhancing its overall energy security and resilience.
