Sinem Dedetaş, the Mayor of Üsküdar, has been suspended from her position due to her arrest in a corruption probe targeting the municipality. The Interior Ministry confirmed her suspension, highlighting that it is a temporary measure in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.
The announcement follows Dedetaş's detention related to allegations of irregularities in building permits and occupancy processes within Üsküdar Municipality. After being taken into custody, she was brought to court, where she faced serious charges including bribery, extortion, and forming a criminal organization.
As part of the ongoing investigation, the Interior Ministry emphasized that this suspension is necessary to ensure the integrity of the inquiry. The Ministry stated that the decision was made to uphold public trust and facilitate a thorough examination of the allegations against Dedetaş.
