Turkey Imposes Over 186 Million TL in Fines for Food Safety Violations

Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumaklı, reported that the country undertook an extensive operation last month, conducting 100,128 inspections across various food enterprises. These efforts aimed to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and protect consumer health. As a result of these inspections, authorities issued fines amounting to 186.5 million TL for identified violations. Minister Yumaklı highlighted that the inspections were crucial in maintaining food safety standards within the industry. He noted that the fines reflect the government's commitment to enforcing regulations and holding businesses accountable for any non-compliance. In addition to the financial penalties, the government has also taken legal action, filing 49 criminal complaints against businesses that failed to meet safety requirements.
