In 1969, I had the privilege of attending classes alongside Ahmet Telli in the Turkish Department at Gazi Education Institute. Sharing a classroom with a poet affiliated with DEV-GENÇ, renowned for his remarkable ability to recite poetry, filled me with both pride and joy. Telli's unique voice and passion for literature not only inspired those around him but also left an indelible mark on the Turkish poetic landscape. As we navigated our studies, Telli’s talent became evident to everyone, transcending the boundaries of our academic environment. His performances were characterized by a deep emotional resonance, captivating listeners and drawing them into the world of his verses. It was clear that this was not merely a hobby for him, but a calling that would define his career. Years later, Telli stands as a testament to the power of art amidst adversity, embodying the spirit of a generation that sought to express its struggles and aspirations through poetry. His work continues to inspire new poets and readers alike, reminding us of the enduring power of words to illuminate the human experience. Whether in times of peace or turmoil, Telli's voice remains a beacon for those who seek solace and strength in the written word.
