Parliament’s Repeated Requests for Ministry Responses Go Unanswered

Throughout the current legislative session, the Turkish Parliament has formally contacted multiple ministries on six occasions concerning unanswered parliamentary questions. Despite these efforts, certain ministries continue to neglect their duty to provide timely responses. Notably, the Minister of Sports has not addressed any parliamentary inquiries for the past three years, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs has been unresponsive for two years. In addition to these instances, the Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek, has also failed to respond to any parliamentary inquiries since taking office. This lack of accountability raises concerns about the transparency and responsiveness of governmental operations in Turkey. The ongoing situation highlights a significant gap between the expectations of parliamentary representatives and the actions of key government officials. As the Parliament pushes for greater accountability from ministries, the absence of timely responses not only undermines legislative processes but also diminishes public trust in the government’s commitment to transparency. Lawmakers are calling for urgent measures to ensure that all inquiries are addressed promptly, emphasizing the need for a more engaged and responsible governmental framework.
