Olcay Baykal, Wife of Former CHP Leader Deniz Baykal, Passes Away

Olcay Baykal, the beloved wife of former Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Deniz Baykal, has passed away. She died this morning while receiving treatment at the Antalya Kepez State Hospital. Following her death, her body was transported to Antalya Airport using a funeral vehicle provided by the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, from where it will be flown to Ankara. It has been announced that Olcay Baykal will be buried alongside her husband, who passed away three years ago, this coming Friday. Olcay Baykal, who had a career as a teacher, had a private marriage with Deniz Baykal in 1963 when he was a practicing lawyer. The couple wed in Akçakoca, a picturesque vacation spot on the Black Sea coast, and later informed their families about the marriage. The couple shared two children, Ataç and Aslı, who were born from their long-lasting union. Their story is one of love and commitment, with Deniz Baykal often speaking fondly of his late wife throughout his political career.
