Namık Tan, an Istanbul representative for the Republican People's Party (CHP), has responded to allegations suggesting that he approached Tom Barrack for assistance concerning a recent annulment decision. In his statement, Tan firmly denied having any interaction with Barrack, stating, "I have neither met with Tom Barrack nor even been in close proximity to him. On the day the annulment decision was issued, I was returning to Turkey due to a health issue I experienced while attending the ongoing Political Committee meeting of the Council of Europe in Paris."
The allegations surfaced recently, sparking discussions among political circles. Tan emphasized the importance of transparency in politics and expressed his disappointment over the unfounded claims. He reiterated that his absence from any meetings with Barrack is factual and that he was engaged in official duties abroad during the time in question.
Tan's response is a part of his ongoing efforts to clarify his position amidst political speculation. His attendance at the European meeting was aimed at discussing key political matters rather than engaging in any outside negotiations. The CHP representative's remarks serve to reinforce his commitment to his responsibilities as a legislator, dismissing rumors that could potentially mislead the public.
