June Sees Surge in Hunger and Poverty Thresholds: Poverty Line Hits 119,344 TL

In a recent report released by BES-AR, the data for June highlights a concerning increase in both hunger and poverty thresholds in Turkey. For a four-member civil servant household, the minimum amount needed for healthy nutrition has now climbed to 48,043 TL. Simultaneously, the comprehensive poverty line, which accounts for all essential living expenses, has surged to 119,344 TL. The report also outlines the financial pressures faced by single employees, whose monthly living costs have reached 77,197 TL in June. This significant rise in expenses has led to a scenario where public sector workers are reportedly dedicating a staggering 75-80% of their salaries solely to cover rental costs.
