In a recent statement, Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu revealed that Turkey's smoking cessation clinics, identified as 1501, have surpassed the milestone of 4 million examinations since their inception. This impressive figure underscores the government’s commitment to combating smoking addiction and promoting public health initiatives across the nation.
Memişoğlu elaborated on the services provided through the ALO 171 Smoking Cessation Support Hotline, which operates around the clock, seven days a week. He reported that in 2025, the hotline assisted 420,651 citizens, and during the first four months of 2026, it has already supported an additional 143,534 individuals seeking help to quit smoking.
The minister emphasized the importance of these resources in helping individuals overcome tobacco dependence and improve their quality of life. The ongoing efforts of the Health Ministry not only aim to provide medical assistance but also to foster a healthier society by reducing smoking rates across Turkey.
