Haluk Levent, a prominent musician and founder of the Ahbap charity established in 2017, has been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The inquiry was launched following allegations of irregularities within the charity, which has gained recognition for its humanitarian efforts.
Law enforcement officials from the Financial Crimes Unit of the Istanbul Police Department apprehended Levent after a detention warrant was issued against him. Reports indicate that he was attempting to travel abroad, having purchased a ticket to Germany, but returned home upon learning of a travel ban placed against him. After switching off his phone, he attempted to flee to Izmir, but was intercepted and detained in Bursa.
As the investigation continues, the number of suspects detained has risen to 19. Authorities have conducted searches at various locations linked to the charity, seizing a considerable amount of digital materials, cash, gold, checks, promissory notes, and other relevant documents.
