The investigation into the Ahbap Association has taken a dramatic turn as Haluk Levent, a prominent Turkish artist, has been escorted to the courthouse along with 22 other suspects. This morning, the group is set to provide statements to the prosecutor regarding the ongoing inquiry.
Yesterday, several individuals were detained as part of this investigation, with ongoing procedures for the suspects still in custody. The operation, which was described as a second wave, saw the arrest of a total of 36 individuals, including 14 suspects and four companies across cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Kocaeli, and Mugla.
Investigators from the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit conducted synchronized raids at designated locations, seizing a substantial amount of digital materials during their searches. Notably, three suspects facing arrest warrants were already incarcerated for unrelated offenses, adding complexity to the case.
In their statements regarding the second wave of operations, the chief prosecutor emphasized the need to scrutinize financial transactions linked to the municipality of Şile, highlighting irregularities that have raised alarms about the association's financial activities. As these legal proceedings unfold, the implications for those involved, including Haluk Levent, remain to be seen.
