Criticism Mounts Against Montella Following Belgium Defeat: 'They Should Compensate Him with Villas in Bodrum!'

The Turkish national football team suffered another defeat last night against Belgium in their third match of the UEFA Nations League A Group, finishing the game without earning any points. As a result, the Ay-yıldızlılar find themselves at the bottom of the group, the only team to remain scoreless. This disappointing performance has prompted sharp critiques from Hürriyet columnists Uğur Meleke and Güntekin Onay, who expressed their concerns regarding the team's direction and Montella's leadership. Meleke pointed out that the team's recent form raises questions about Montella's ability to inspire and guide the players effectively. He suggested that the coach's tenure might have reached its conclusion, stating, "There is nothing left that he can offer this team; his mission is long over!" This sentiment reflects a growing frustration among fans and analysts alike who were hopeful for a turnaround in the team’s fortunes. Onay echoed these sentiments, adding that the coach's performance has been disappointing, and suggested that potential compensation for Montella could be linked to his property holdings. "They should compensate him with villas in Bodrum!" he remarked humorously, highlighting the disconnect between Montella's lavish lifestyle and the team's current struggles. The future of the coaching staff and the tactical approach of the national team now hang in the balance as they look to regain form in the upcoming matches.
